Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies – one of these bright and creamy smoothies along with a ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bar, is perfect for a healthy, delicious and energizing snack.

Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies

I’ve mentioned that I love to lead an active lifestyle, I’m an avid runner and love to go on long hikes and bike rides. Plus, I’m a busy mom and am always on-the-go shuttling to and from gymnastics, tennis and various other activities.

So, it is essential that I have some good healthy snack options that keep me going and help me sustain a high energy lifestyle. I look for snacks that taste great, are high in protein and fiber and have no high fructose corn syrup, such as ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bars.

Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies

I found ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bars at my local Walmart, they are located in the Pharmacy section. There are a variety of great flavors, including Cinnamon Roll and Chocolate Peanut Butter, all with 10 or more grams of protein per serving.

Another of my favorite healthy snack options are smoothies, especially smoothies made with frozen banana chunks and chia seeds.

I love using frozen banana chunks in smoothies because then ice isn’t needed, which can melt and water down the smoothies. Frozen banana chunks make for really creamy, luscious, smoothies, but without adding any fat. I also love chia seeds, they are a wonderful addition to smoothies, and are a super food, full of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, antioxidants and fiber.

I thought smoothies would be a great pairing with the ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bars. With summer berry season on it’s way, I decided to use a mix of strawberries, blueberries and blackberries to make Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies.

These Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies are so easy to make. First gather the ingredients including mixed berries, frozen banana chunks, chia seeds and vanilla soy milk. Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

And, that’s it, these bright and creamy smoothies are ready to serve. I poured the smoothie mixture into two glasses, though it could easily be used to make four smaller sized portions.

These delicious smoothies can be served just after blending, they also keep well in the refrigerator. That is because these smoothies don’t contain any ice, plus chia seeds are natural thickeners and expand when they absorb liquid.

So, these smoothies will stay creamy and delicious for a few days stored in the refrigerator and are perfect for grabbing after a workout or when I’m on-the-go.

These colorful Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies pair so nicely with the ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bars. Together, they are a great pairing for a healthy and satisfying snack, one that is packed with protein and fiber, fills me with energy and really keeps me going.

One of these smoothies along with a ZonePerfect® bar is a great snack after a run or to pack in a cooler bag to take along on a hike or bike ride, or just when I’m on-the-go, running around to various activities.

One of these smoothies along with a ZonePerfect® bar is also perfect for an engergizing afternoon snack, when I’ve already accomplished a full day of work, but still have much more to get done, and am really in need of that 2nd (or 3rd, 4th or 5th) wind.

Mixed Berry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies

ZonePerfect® bars have such a delicious, high quality taste. I really love both the Cinnamon Roll and Chocolate Peanut Butter varieties and can’t wait to try the other flavors including Fudge Graham and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

  1. Looks yummy! I’ve never tried Chia seeds. So, do the Chia seeds take the place of protein powder?

    • Thanks Anita, I’ve never used protein powder in smoothies, but would think chia seeds would be a good replacement, as they are high in protein. Hope you give it a try and enjoy!

    • Chia seeds are such a great addition to smoothies, for both the protein and their thickening ability.

  2. I used to have a big high carb breakfast everyday + tons supplements as I was feeling so weak . But now its a big glass of smoothie! Anything I find at home goes into it. If you think about it, there is no way to eat all that fruit, veggies ;)). I am more alive even though I take less supplements. Love my smoothie. xx
