Apple Banana Chia Seed Smoothies – these delicious and refreshing smoothies are perfect for a healthy breakfast or snack anytime.
Chia Seeds are a Great Addition to Smoothies
I love chia seeds, they are a super food, full of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, antioxidants and fiber. Chia seeds are so versatile. One of my favorite ways to use them is in smoothies.
I’ve shared a few of my favorites chia seed smoothies here including my Peach Banana Chia Seed Smoothies, Strawberry Banana Chia Seed Smoothies and my Chocolate Banana Chia Seed Smoothies. Today, I’m sharing another favorite, perfect for fall, these delicious Apple Banana Chia Seed Smoothies.
The kids and I went apple picking a couple of weeks ago. And I decided to use some of our fresh picked apples to make a batch of these refreshing Apple Banana Chia Seed Smoothies.
Chia Seeds are Natural Thickeners
I love using frozen bananas in smoothies, such as this, as then you don’t need to add ice, which can melt and water down the smoothies. Chia seeds are also natural thickeners. They expand when they absorb liquid. So, if you can’t enjoy the whole batch immediately, these smoothies keep quite nicely in the refrigerator.
This recipe makes two smoothies. I enjoyed one after my morning run. The other, I put in the refrigerator, and the next morning it was still thick and creamy and was wonderful for a quick and easy breakfast.
These creamy, refreshing smoothies are so easy to make and are perfect for a healthy breakfast or delicious snack anytime.
