What’d You Do This Weekend? #19

Hi everyone, welcome to What’d You Do This Weekend? I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We had some gorgeous mid 80sĀ°F weather here on Saturday and we spent the day at a local music and BBQ festival, the highlight of which was the racing pigs. I’ve seen racing pigs before, but this show by Robinson’s Racing Pigs was really special.

The guy running the races really loved his pigs and shared a lot of information with us, such as why the pigs race – for Oreo cookies – and about their training. The pigs learn to race at about 3 months of age and only race until about 6 months of age. There were 2 sets of racing pigs, the first were about 5 1/2 months old and were close to retirement, the second set were 3 1/2 months old and it was one of their first races and they were still getting used to the crowd. The pigs raced both on a land track and in the water called “the hogwash.” It was absolutely adorable and a lot of fun, they travel and perform all over the US, so if you have the chance to see them, I highly recommend you do!
