Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie – the delicious flavors of an oatmeal cookie in a creamy, healthy smoothie, that is both vegan and gluten-free.
I didn’t set out purposely to make a smoothie that tastes like an oatmeal cookie, rather it was a happy surprise. The other morning, I had just one overripe pear in the fruit basket that was destined for a smoothie. I cut the pear into chunks and added it to my blender along with some vanilla soy milk and one of my smoothie staples – frozen banana chunks.
Then, I went to the panty to get another of my smoothie staples, chia seeds, which are natural thickeners. I often make smoothies using frozen banana chunks and chia seeds, such as my Apple Banana Chia Seed Smoothies and my Spinach Banana Chia Seed Smoothies.
The Flavors of an Oatmeal Cookie in a Healthy Smoothie
However, I needed a change of plan, as I discovered that we were out of chia seeds. So, I decided to use oatmeal as a thickener instead. I also added a pinch of cinnamon. The resulting smoothie, to my delight, had the flavor of an oatmeal cookie.
The vanilla from the soymilk, the cinnamon and oatmeal were the predominant flavors. The pear and banana didn’t have a strong flavor rather provided sweetness and creaminess. All together, this delicious, healthy smoothie tastes just like an oatmeal cookie.
This creamy and delicious Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie is both vegan and gluten-free and is perfect for a healthy breakfast or snack anytime.

I’ve put Chia seeds in my smoothies, and added a lot of other different ingredients, but I’ve never tried oats!
Oats work really well and taste great too!
Interesting recipe – I’d never have thought of that.
