Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos – these pretty, festive and refreshing cocktails are the perfect drink for celebrating spring and warm weather entertaining.
Mojitos are a Great Drink for the Warm Weather
I am so happy that spring and the warm weather has arrived here in Carlisle, Massachusetts. One of my favorite parts about the warmer weather, is that everyone is out and about in my neighborhood. Thus, I’m much more likely to bump into my friends and neighbors and suggest an impromptu get together.
When I do bump into friends and neighbors on a weekend afternoon, I love to invite them over for a drink to be enjoyed outside on our deck. One of my favorite warm weather drinks is a mojito. It is a drink we love to serve at our lake house in Vermont to family and guests staying with us and when neighbors stop by. Of course, we enjoy mojitos at our house in Carlisle too, and I like to keep my fridge and pantry stocked with the ingredients to have on hand for last minute entertaining.
With mojitos in mind, I headed over to my local Stop & Shop for supplies. In the Carbonated Beverages aisle, I noticed Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale. I love ginger ale and I love blackberries, and thought it was perfect for spring and I that I could use it to create Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos.
Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale is a seasonal product and is only available at Stop & Shop and other Ahold stores for a limited time from March-May 2016. I picked up both a 12-pack of cans and a 2-liter bottle.
Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale is so refreshing, I love that it is made with real ginger. Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale is wonderful on its own, it is also a delicious and festive addition to mojitos.
How to Make Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos
To make these Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos, first gather the ingredients including fresh limes, simple syrup, light rum, Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale, fresh mint, ice and blackberries.
Next, add about six to eight mint leaves to a pint glass. Juice a lime, and add the juice to the pint glass, along with some simple syrup. Then, muddle the mixture in the pint glass.
Add ice to the pint glass so that it is about three quarters of the way full. Pour in light rum and Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale. Give the mixture a stir and pour it into a serving glass. Garnish the glass with a wedge of lime and fresh blackberries, and add a straw, if desired. Repeat these steps to make a second cocktail.
These Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos are bubbly, refreshing and delicious and have such a pretty color. The blackberry flavor from the Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale really complements the lime and mint nicely and adds a great springtime twist to the usual mojito.
These festive Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos are the perfect drink to serve friends and neighbors for impromptu get-togethers to welcome and celebrate spring.
Last Minute Casual Entertaining
When I have guests coming over at the last minute for a casual gathering, I like to put together a quick and easy, yet festive, spread. Since I’ll be serving my Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos, I put together a spread that coordinates with the purple and green colors of the drinks.
I set out light purple linen and a little bouquet of fresh flowers in various shades of purple. A pretty glass bowl filled with limes adds a nice pop of bright green and is a cheerful addition to any springtime spread.
Finally, I set out the colorful Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos, garnished with pretty green and white paper straws, along with a dish of blackberries for my guests to add to their drinks, or snack on, as desired.
I know my friends and neighbors are going to love these festive Sparkling Blackberry Mojitos. I cannot wait to share these with them, outside on our deck, to celebrate spring and the arrival of the warmer weather.
