Orange Honey Cornbread – this moist and delicious cornbread has a hint of sweetness and a subtle orange flavor and is so easy to make using a homemade mix.
I love cornbread, it is a wonderful accompaniment to all sorts of meals, it is also great as a casserole topping. Cornbread is also really easy to make from scratch, especially when you have a homemade cornbread mix on hand.
Last month, I shared my Tex Mex Chicken Casserole with Cornbread Topping and included instructions for making my homemade cornbread mix, which I used for the casserole topping. Today, I have a new recipe to share using my homemade cornbread mix, perfect for a spring brunch, this delicious Orange Honey Cornbread.
How to Make Homemade Cornbread Mix
To make a batch of homemade cornbread mix, I whisk together flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl. I then transfer the mixture to an airtight container and just scoop out what I need to easily whip up homemade cornbread topping or cornbread such as this Orange Honey Cornbread.
I love adding orange flavor to baked goods such as my Orange Sunshine Mini Loaves, and thought it would go nicely in cornbread. I used both orange zest and a little orange juice in this Orange Honey Cornbread which gives it a nice subtle orange flavor. I also added honey, which gives it a hint of sweetness, and sour cream which makes for a really moist cornbread.
How to Make Orange Honey Cornbread
This Orange Honey Cornbread takes just a few minutes to prepare. I mixed together some of the homemade cornbread mix, melted butter, eggs, light sour cream, orange juice, orange zest and honey in a large mixing bowl. I then transferred the batter to a baking pan and baked it in the preheated oven for about 18-20 minutes.
The resulting Orange Honey Cornbread is so moist and delicious and is a wonderful accompaniment to all sorts of meals. I served it along with a sun-dried tomato and goat cheese frittata for brunch.
This delicious Orange Honey Cornbread is so easy to make, using a homemade cornbread mix, and is a great accompaniment to brunch or any meal. It is also wonderful for breakfast or a snack anytime.
